In home private lessons are  so valuable, as that is where the dog spends most of its time. It is also the place where the dog may be the naughtiest and not listen to its owner. 

Yes they are generally more expensive than group classes, but you have one on one attention. You can tackle any problems you are having at home. Wether it be the dog barging thru the back door, jumping up on the back door, more than a one dog household, and lots more. 

So its the perfect place to start obedience training. The behaviour at home directly correlates to the behaviour out of the home. 

Its amazing when you establish some rules at home and teach good manners. How different your relationship with your dog can be.

You the owner are taught the right equipment to use to get the best results. You will know how to communicate with your dog more effectively. 

Private lessons can be very effective and can sometimes take less time to achieve the desired outcome.
